ACTION AND MECHANISM
- Combination of aromatic substances [EXPECTORANT].
INDICATIONS
- [COMMON COLD]. Treatment of common cold symptoms and [GRIPE], such as cough and nasal congestion.
POSOLOGY
- Adults and children over 6 years:
*Cutaneous use
3 times a day: apply a thin layer on the chest, neck and back. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
Wear loose clothing to facilitate the inhalation of vapors.
* Vapor inhalation
10-15 minutes: add a tablespoon of VapoRub in a bowl of hot water (not boiling) and inhale.
This mixture should not be heated or reheated in the microwave. Children should always be under adult supervision during use.
Maximum duration of treatment: 7 days.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
- Hypersensitivity to any component of the medication.
- [WOUNDS]. This medicine can lead to dermal irritation, worsening the patient's situation in case of [DERMATITIS], [CUTANEOUS ULCERA] or [BURNS].
- Children under 6 years.
PRECAUTIONS
According to patient type:
- History of [ASTHMA] or [LONG SPASM]. In these patients, a spasm of the smooth muscles of the larynx, trachea and bronchi could occur.
- [EPILEPSY]. The administration of essential oils has been associated with the appearance of seizures.
- Children under 7 years with a history of laryngeal spasm, [CONVULSIONS] and epilepsy.
According to its form of administration:
*Cutaneous use:
- Do not apply to wounded skin or mucous membranes.
- Do not ingest or apply directly to the nostrils, eyes, mouth or face. External use.
- Do not apply a bandage that is too tight. Do not use a hot bandage, or any heat.
* Inhalation use:
- Do not use boiling water to prepare inhalations.
- Do not heat or reheat the mixture in the microwave.
- Do not use in cold air vaporizers or humidifiers.
PATIENT ADVICE
Check with your doctor or pharmacist before using VapoRub:
* if you are hypersensitive to perfumes or solvents.
* if you have or have previously had episodes of seizures or epilepsy.
* if you have or have previously had diseases such as bronchial asthma, or other respiratory diseases or hypersensitivities.
* If you are pregnant or intend to be.
Do not use VapoRub for more than 7 consecutive days or over large areas.
PREGNANCY
VapoRub contains camphor in its composition, which crosses the placenta. It should not be used during pregnancy.
LACTATION
VapoRub should not be applied to the mother's breast during the period of breastfeeding due to the theoretical risk of apnea reflex in the infant. Its use is not recommended.
CHILDREN
There is no experience with this medicine in children under six years of age, so its use is not recommended.
VapoRub use in children should always be supervised by an adult.
EFFECTS ON DRIVING
The influence of VapoRub on the ability to drive and use machines is nil.
ADVERSE REACTIONS

No adverse reactions due to systemic exposure have been observed.
OVERDOSE
Overdose can cause skin irritation.
Symptomatic treatment.
Do not induce vomiting in case of acute poisoning due to accidental ingestion.
