Solgar® CoQ-10 (Coenzyme Q-10) 200 mg Softgels contains KanekaQ-10®, a patented form of yeast fermented CoQ-10 that is biologically identical to the CoQ-10 produced by the body.

CoQ-10 exists in two chemical forms: oxidized (ubiquinone) and reduced (ubiquinol). Once oxidized, CoQ-10 (ubiquinone) is used in the body where it is transformed and converted to ubiquinol. Reduced CoQ-10 (ubiquinol) behaves in the same way, becoming ubiquinone when it performs its function in the body.

As we age, our body produces less and less CoQ-10. This substance, similar to vitamins, can be found in different foods, but the viscera, such as the heart, liver and kidney, contain a particularly high level. It is also found in beef, soybean oil, sardines, mackerel and peanuts.

Coenzyme Q-10 is produced in our body and participates in the production of energy. CoQ-10 is found in all cells of the body, but its levels are highest in the heart, skeletal muscle and other tissues of high energy demand.
