Lactobacillus gasseri and Lactobacillus rhamnosus
Muvagyn is used for the normalization of altered vaginal microbiota after antibiotic treatment of bacterial vaginosis and to maintain a normal vaginal microbiota in case of recurrent urinary tract infections.
PHARMACOKINETICS
The effect is local in the vagina. There is no evidence on the absorption of lactobacilli after vaginal application.
INDICATIONS
- Normalization of the altered vaginal microbiota after antibiotic treatment of bacterial vaginosis.
- Maintenance of a normal vaginal microbiota in case of recurrent urinary tract infections.
POSOLOGY
Adults:
- Treatment of bacterial vaginosis : Insert a capsule into the vagina before going to bed for 6 – 8 days.
- Maintenance of normal vaginal microbiota : Insert a capsule into the vagina before going to bed for 4 – 6 days. Menstruating women should start treatment immediately after menstruation.
Children and adolescents under 18 years of age : It is not recommended to use this treatment in girls under 12 years of age. The dosage for people over 12 years of age is the same as for adults.
DOSAGE IN KIDNEY FAILURE

DOSAGE IN LIVER FAILURE

RULES FOR CORRECT ADMINISTRATION
- Hands should be washed thoroughly before using the capsules.
- The capsule should be inserted as deeply as possible into the vagina with the help of a finger.
ADVICE TO THE PATIENT
- Make sure you properly know the rules for administering this medication before using it. Consult the pharmacist if necessary.
- If you forget a dose, take it as soon as possible, unless it is not long before the next one. Then continue treatment at normal times. Do not double the next dose to make up for the forgotten one.
- Consult your doctor and/or pharmacist if symptoms continue or worsen during treatment.
- Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or plan to become pregnant before starting treatment.
- Inform your doctor if you are breast-feeding before starting treatment.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
- Hypersensitivity to Lactobacillus gasseri or Lactobacillus rhamnosus or any other component of the medication.
PRECAUTIONS
- It should not be used during menstruation.
- The patient should be instructed to see her doctor if symptoms worsen or do not improve within a week.
